# Configure Your Notification Preferences on Cibocom

> Control which Cibocom events trigger alerts, choose your preferred channels, and set the right frequency so you never miss a critical trade moment.

Cibocom sends notifications to keep you informed at every stage of the trading lifecycle — from the moment someone places a bid on your listing through to shipment completion. Because food commodity trading moves fast and opportunities can close in hours, getting the right notification at the right time is essential. This page explains how to configure your notification preferences so you stay informed without being overwhelmed.

## Accessing notification settings

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Settings">
    Click your avatar or initials in the top-right corner of the navigation bar, then select **Settings**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Notifications">
    In the left-hand settings navigation, click **Notifications** to open the notification preferences panel.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure and save">
    Adjust each setting as described below, then click **Save Preferences** at the bottom of the page.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Notification types

Each notification type can be enabled or disabled independently. Use the accordions below to understand what triggers each one and why you might want it enabled.

<Accordion title="New bid on your listing">
  Triggered when a counterparty places a bid on one of your active listings. This is one of the most time-sensitive notifications on the platform — bids often carry expiry windows, and responding promptly signals professionalism. **Recommended: enabled.**
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Bid accepted">
  Sent when the other party accepts a bid you placed. Receiving this notification means the trade has reached agreement and a deal will be created. **Recommended: enabled.**
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Counter-bid received">
  Triggered when a seller responds to your bid with a counter-offer rather than a straight acceptance or rejection. Counter-bids also have expiry windows, so timely review is important. **Recommended: enabled.**
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Bid rejected">
  Sent when a bid you placed is declined by the seller. Use this notification to decide whether to revise your offer, look at alternative listings, or move on. **Recommended: enabled.**
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="New deal created">
  Triggered automatically when a bid is accepted and a formal deal record is created in Cibocom. This confirms that both parties have agreed to terms and the deal workflow has started. **Recommended: enabled.**
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Deal status update">
  Sent when a deal moves from one stage to another — for example, from *Agreed* to *Documents Pending*, or from *Documents Submitted* to *Confirmed*. Keeping track of deal progress helps you plan logistics and cash flow. **Recommended: enabled.**
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="New shipment update">
  Triggered when a shipment record linked to one of your deals is updated — for example, when an estimated arrival date changes, when a Bill of Lading is uploaded, or when a customs clearance event is logged. **Recommended: enabled.**
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="New connection request">
  Sent when another Cibocom member sends you a connection request. Accepting connections expands your network and increases the reach of your listings. **Recommended: enabled.**
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Market activity alerts">
  Periodic alerts when new listings appear in commodity categories you have flagged as relevant (based on your company's commodities profile). Useful for buyers who want to monitor market supply without manually checking listings every day. **Recommended: enabled for buyers; optional for sellers.**
</Accordion>

<Tip>
  Enable real-time notifications for **New bid on your listing** and **Counter-bid received** at minimum. Bids frequently carry short expiry windows of 24–48 hours, and a delayed response can cost you a deal — or damage your reputation as a responsive trading partner.
</Tip>

## Notification channels

Cibocom delivers notifications through two channels. You can enable either or both for each notification type.

| Channel    | How it works                                                                                                                                                      |
| ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **In-app** | A notification appears in your Cibocom notification bell (top navigation bar). Unread count is shown as a badge. Click the bell to view all recent notifications. |
| **Email** | A notification email is sent to the address on your Cibocom profile. Emails include a direct link back to the relevant listing, bid, deal, or shipment. |

To configure channels, go to **Settings → Notifications** and use the toggle switches in the **Channel** column next to each notification type. You can enable in-app only, email only, or both.

<Note>
  Make sure the email address on your profile is current and monitored. If you have changed your work email address recently, update it in **Settings → Profile** so email notifications reach you.
</Note>

## Setting notification frequency

For some notification types — particularly **Market activity alerts** and **Deal status updates** — you can choose between real-time delivery and a daily digest.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the frequency control">
    In **Settings → Notifications**, look for the **Frequency** column or dropdown next to each notification type that supports it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose real-time or daily digest">
    Select **Real-time** to receive a notification immediately when the event occurs. Select **Daily Digest** to receive a single summary email once per day (delivered at 07:00 in your local timezone) covering all events of that type from the previous 24 hours.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save Preferences** to apply your frequency settings.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>
  The daily digest is best suited to lower-urgency events like market activity alerts. For bid and deal notifications, real-time delivery is strongly recommended.
</Info>

## Muting specific markets or counterparties

If you are receiving high volumes of notifications from a particular market or a specific company that is not relevant to you right now, you can mute them without disabling the notification type entirely.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Mute a market">
    Go to **Settings → Notifications**, scroll to the **Muted Markets** section, and click **Add Market**. Select the commodity market to mute. You will stop receiving market activity alerts from that category until you remove it from the muted list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Mute a counterparty">
    In **Settings → Notifications**, scroll to **Muted Companies**, click **Add Company**, and search for the company by name. Muting a company suppresses bid and connection notifications originating from that company only.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Remove a mute">
    To restore notifications, find the muted market or company in the relevant list and click **Unmute**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Muting a counterparty does not block them from viewing your listings or placing bids. It only suppresses the notifications you receive from their activity. Check your listings regularly if you have muted any active counterparties.
</Warning>
